Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 charges include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
