Fans Urge Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the Australian man shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was set to be present on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also questioned guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Academy Award nods, securing two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
