Your Ideal Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution Based on the Zodiac Sign

The return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked immense excitement within the fandom. Starting with the one-by-one unveiling of newcomers before the game's launch, to players forming strong views on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to look forward to.

With many of the Super Forms boasting unique appearances that highlight their personalities, one idea naturally: What's the best way to connect this with zodiac signs? This list is based on a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and personal experience.

Aries – Mega Camerupt

To be truthful, Houndour's evolution was almost selected for this fire sign, as they are the Super Form and zodiac symbol that inspire the most fear. However, a Super Houndoom comes across as constantly furious, which isn't typical of the Ram's energy, renowned for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram much more similar to Super Camerupt, which solely spews lava when angered. Remain on the friendly side of either and enjoy a strong partner; should you offend them, be ready to face the consequences.

Taurus – Super Heracross

Similar to a loyal Bull, the reliable Heracross, whether in its regular and Mega form, has assisted numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. Though dependable, both the creature and a Bull are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their trainer or a firm belief – will defend their position to the end. The thing about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, however, is its unabashed passion for treats. Many previous official descriptions note their craving for tasty sap and how it uses its appendage to collect it all, which is true Bull-sign vibe.

Gemini – Mega Medicham

Look at this total queen. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the soul of any gathering, offering an endless fountain of chatter to those who wants to hear. Much like an captivating, sociable Twins, it's very simple to envision Super Medicham mesmerizing an entire Wild Zone with their stories. Medicham’s official description also mentions its ability to predict an enemy’s next moves, which seems quite similar to a people-smart Twins.

The Crab – Super Manectric

Cancer is commonly regarded as the most emotional member of the zodiac, a passionate sign known for frequently getting absorbed in their feelings. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution fills the creature with a “huge quantity of energy, but it's excessive for this Pokémon to completely manage,” which sounds a lot like a typical Cancer emotional outburst. It is also known for its ability to make a thundercloud over its own head – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is going to do, it’s spoil their good time.

Leo – Super Starmie

Well, did you think I was planning to select the lion Pokémon for the lion of the zodiac? Aside from the fact that it would be far too obvious, Leo is clearly Super Starmie, the star whose gams just went viral for being extremely glamorous (or terrifying, based on your taste). Players were captivated from the purple sea star, and that’s precisely the same vibe a Leo brings to the table. Starmie is also rumored to be transmitting radio waves from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s typical of a Lion to be putting on a show, even if for extraterrestrials.

The Maiden – Mega Victreebel

The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Virgo is ideally represented in Mega Victreebel, the Mega with constant acid reflux. The zodiac symbol famous for being charmingly critical is clearly reflected throughout this Pokémon’s whole evolutionary chain, from a perpetually surprised expression like a Maiden when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its inverted face that’s similar to the emoji a Maiden posts to the group chat when everyone says they want to “go with the flow” rather than making a plan.

The Scales – Mega Audino

Observe this gentle, sensitive creature, who employs the feelers on its auditory organs to tell how people are feeling by their heartbeat. Always empathetic – occasionally to a detriment – and trying to maintain the peace, there are numerous Scales who would probably appreciate Super Audino's skills. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just make them worry more about everyone else.

The Scorpion – Mega Banette

Banette is a creature with a surprisingly sad origin: Discarded as a toy, it became sentient through sheer resentment and swore revenge on its previous caretaker. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That seems precisely like several conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpio adores cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the ideal pair with Mega Banette.

The Archer – Mega Hawlucha

Both Super Hawlucha and Archers are constantly putting on a performance. Being a Archer myself, the amount of occasions I’ve called myself some variation of a “silly little jester” is countless. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Super Form, its description even notes how it “poses to display its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had a Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can imagine.

Capricorn – Mega Absol

Were you aware that a Super Absol has the ability to predict calamities ahead of time? That exudes the exact same energy as a Capricorn, who often always believe they’re right. The thing is, similar to a visionary Mega Absol, they often are. It’s also the very initial Mega Evolution that players encounter in Legends: Z-A – just like a Capricorn to get in on the beginning of the Mega trend.

Aquarius – Super Chandelure

Aloof air sign Aquarius is arguably the non-flame sign that is most like a fire sign – its counterpart is Leo, and there are countless jokes about Sagittarius and Aquarius being unpredictable accomplices. Mega Chandelure’s dual Ghost/Fire typing matches perfectly with this, and the Super Form's general daunting presence is also very Water Bearer. If you weren’t already convinced, the Super Form's Pokédex entry says it “absorbs hatred and converts it into power.” If that fails to perfectly {encaps
